If you happen to watch television shows pertaining to paranormal investigations, you may be surprised to find out that what you are watching in most cases are not science based paranormal investigations. What you see on most paranormal television shows falls into one of four scenarios.
• The first scenario is that you are watching a television show loaded with dramatic and special effects to tell paranormal stories without any investigation involved. These shows focus on the spooky.
• The second scenario is that you are watching a ghost hunt where the goal is to witness paranormal activity without any research or science being involved. These shows also focus on the spooky.
• The third scenario is that the show may be a hybrid between a ghost hunt and a paranormal investigation. In this type of television program the focus predominantly is on ghost hunting more than the paranormal investigation for entertainment purposes. This is done to attract a general audience as it makes for a more energetic television production, but can draw in those interested in the science.
• The fourth scenario, which The television shows Ghost Nation and Ghosthunters (except Ghosthunter’s 2019 season which was a different team that used different methods) fall into, are a good representation of what an empirical on scene paranormal investigations consists of. However, even on those television shows you wont see the level of science that we use at Mount Washington Valley SPIRIT. Even though the investigators on those shows may be well versed on many more paranormal science subjects than you see on the shows, The level of science that we use wouldn’t make for good television so you wont see it even on Ghost Nation or Ghost Hunters. Keep in mind What you see on those two shows is 45 minutes of highlights from a multi-night on scene paranormal investigation. Their team put many more hours into a case than you see. Those two shows focus on a thorough and neutral paranormal investigation where their goal is finding facts for their clients.
If you wish to be a recreational ghosthunter then what you see on television is typically more than enough education to have an enjoyable time ghost hunting. Mount Washington Valley SPIRIT is a group of paranormal investigators and as a group function we do not produce ghost hunts. Members of the group at their leisure do go on ghost hunts for recreational purposes, but it is not a function of Mount Washington Valley SPIRIT as an organized group. As a group Mount Washington Valley SPIRIT is a nexus of paranormal investigators, researchers, and educators who love to partake in a paranormal investigations deeply routed in mainstream and paranormal science as well as parapsychology (such as the subjects mentioned above.) However if a recreational ghost hunter has any questions we are more than happy to answer them for you. We are thrilled to help anyone involved with the paranormal field.
