Sixth Sense Abilities

There are many “sixth sense” abilities that have been identified over time. While mainstream science doesn’t support the existence of said abilities and has classified them as a “pseudoscience” even though the United States government has benefited from people with some of these abilities over the years. For example in the late 1970’s Project Grill Time used a squad of psychics overseen by US military and CIA intelligence in order to remotely spy on Iran. Project Star Gate operated between 1972 and 1995 also overseen by the US CIA and military intelligence to remotely spy on the Soviet Union during the Cold War. In 1945 the US Government’s Operation Alsos used psychics to remotely spy on the Nazis. The government has used psychics to find downed planes and most wanted criminals. There is still a federal intelligence program to this day named “Anomalous Mental Cognition” that is funded by the US Government.

There are countess “psychics” that set up shops with all of the metaphysical accoutrement to make themselves appear more legitimate. These people charge money to give psychic readings, the overwhelming majority of which are people who are experienced cold readers or hot readers and don’t have any actual ability. I am sure there are some who have a legitimate ability, but experience has taught me that they are the exception and not the rule. Do you remember back in the day all of the television commercials for “Miss Cleo”? She was the epitome of a case of fraud and swindling people out of their money. She never had any ability of any kind other than a gift of deception. However there are many people that do have a true ability and the vast majority of them don’t try and make money off of their ability. They either keep it to themselves or use it to help others at no cost.

Below I will discuss 13 different recognized “psychic” abilities.

Channeling: To act as a medium, a person who claims to be able to communicate with the spirits of dead people for somebody else to communicate with. The person with the ability acts as a conduit for the spirit to be able to communicate with a live person, either acting as an intermediary or allowing the spirit of the person to control their body.

Clairalience: The ability for a person to acquire psychic knowledge through olfactory means beyond normal olfactory perception. Someone with this ability could be in a field in the middle of no where and even though being alone at the time they will clearly smell the cologne of someone who has passed away or a certain culinary delight that hasn’t been made on a property in years. This could also be something similar to when someone asks what happened to someone and the person with the ability will state I smell fire, meaning they were in a fire, or I smell an ocean, meaning the person drowned in the ocean.

Clairambience: The ability for a person to acquire the taste of something without the object being in their mouth. Not too dissimilar from Clairalience but instead of using olfactory abilities to sense something they use their sense of taste. For example they may taste blood at what was once a crime scene or may taste a culinary delight at a location with no foreknowledge of that particular meal being regularly prepared there. Someone with this ability could sense what someone is eating at a great distance or sense that someone drowned in the ocean by tasting salt water.

Clairaudience: The ability for a person to acquire information through auditory means beyond normal auditory perception. An example of this ability is someone may have a voice in their head that speaks to them. This does not mean that they are “hearing voices” and need a psychologist. This means that their own mind is picking up information and communicating it to the person in a manner which they perceive as audible communication. In addition this ability is someone’s ability to hear a conversation at an extreme distance by focusing in on the energy emanating from a meeting of people even if they are hundreds or thousands of miles away.

Clairsentience: The ability for a person to acquire information through a sense of feeling. Another way to put it is that your nervous system is a big electromagnetic antenna. It is always picking up signals from everything around us. Most of the time we don’t notice this going on, but some people have the ability to mentally paint a picture of a situation or occurrence based upon the feeling that they have through receiving energy from the environment around them.

Clairvoyance: The ability for a person to acquire information through a vision that goes beyond normal visual perception. An example of this would be while meditating someone has a vision that plays out in their mind. It may happen in a dream while sleeping or during a day dream while awake. Only these visions aren’t fabricated by their own mind. They are seeing happenings else where, even during a different time period.

Dowsing: This is a technique for searching by observing the motion of a pointer (traditionally a forked stick, now often paired bent wires) or the changes in direction of a pendulum, supposedly in response to unseen influences. This technique has been used to find buried water, oil, metals, gemstones, gravesites, etc. This act has no official science backing behind it, but there are many well respected people that swear by it.

Empathy: The is the ability to feel, understand, and share the feelings of another person without the other person having described or spoken of said feelings. An example would be to walk into a room and being able to read everyone’s emotions around you as if it were written on their forehead without them ever having communicated with you.

Precognition: This is related to clairvoyance. Precognition clairvoyance is having the foreknowledge of an event. This is the most common held understanding of what a psychic is perceived as. The ability to see the future.

Psychokinesis: The ability to move objects by mental effort alone.

Psychometry: The ability to discover facts about an event or person by touching inanimate objects associated with them. When government investigation teams wish to use people with this ability they will give them an object owned by, for example, a missing person, to get a sense of the energy of the missing person so they may help direct the investigation team towards the missing person.

Retrocognition: This is related to clairvoyance. Retrocognition clairvoyance is the ability to have knowledge of a past event which could not have been learned or inferred by normal means. This may be the ability to understand and interpret remaining energy that is around you from long ago. Objects absorb radiation and can re-radiate that same energy for years or even decades or centuries. Some people have the ability to sense and interpret this energy.

Telepathy: The ability to communicate thoughts or ideas by means other than the known senses. This coined the frequently used mainstream term reading someone’s mind.

Many of these abilities border on the theory of what is known as quantum entanglement which may play a strong part of psychic abilities in some people. This is a topic which I will discuss in an upcoming blog post.
