Orb-viously Not Paranormal: Debunking the Orb Myth

I receive a lot of questions via email pertaining to people sharing their paranormal experiences and looking for my interpretation on their situation. I would guesstimate that four out of 5 emails that I receive are related to orbs. I have discussed orbs in the past in various blog posts, but I thought that it would be beneficial to create a detailed blog entry on orbs that I can refer people to when they email me with photos and videos of orbs, believing that they may be paranormal in nature due to wide spread misinformation which is even propagated by many people involved with the paranormal community including but not limited to ghost hunters, paranormal investigators, paranormal enthusiasts, online video channels, theatrical movies, and televised paranormal programming.

When you watch paranormal investigation television shows you may have noticed that the extreme majority of investigations or ghost hunts are completed at night. Have you ever wondered why this is so? Today’s blog entry is part two of a two part series where we will discuss this phenomenon. On part one we discussed how many paranormal investigations, ghost hunts, ghost tours, and paranormal themed televisions shows are done at night simply for the spooky factor as not all groups use a level of science that would cause you to choose to engage in paranormal related activities at night for scientific purposes. We also discussed how sometimes it is due to scheduling necessities due to the investigators or clients working during the day. Today we will discuss the science component and reasons for conducting paranormal investigations in the evening. There are some devices used on paranormal investigation shows that to some people seem possibly questionable to the ability of the equipment to perform the task that it is claimed to be able to do.
